St. Cornelius seeks to be a vibrant community of faith and encourages everyone to get involved and connected to others in the parish. There are many ways to become involved in the St. Cornelius' community.
We invite you to explore all of our ministries to find something that interests you.
The essence of Mission & Outreach activities at St. Cornelius parish is to share the love of God in Christ with those who are in need. Love becomes sacramental when it is experienced through the physical, tangible, expressions of giving food, offering books or supplies, helping to pull weeds at a house, and offering a helping hand to someone who is in need.
Everyone has a song to sing. Ephesians 5:19 tells us to sing and make melody in our heart to the Lord. We are encouraged in God's word to give thanks through the singing of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. It is believed that many of St. Paul's letters are based on primitive Christian hymns in praise of Christ.
Our Creator is glorified through the singing of hymns, extolling both the Father and Son and proclaiming the worth of the Lamb through the singing of spiritual songs. Music and liturgy is the vessel through which we express our faith and strengthen our bond.
At St. Cornelius, there are many roles for individuals of all ages that enable them to actively participate in worship. They include:
Acolytes participate in the liturgy and assist the clergy with various worship duties.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers are individuals who are confirmed in the Episcopal Church and licensed by the bishop to present the wine chalice to the congregants during the Eucharist.
Lectors are laypersons assigned to read the scriptural passages during the worship service.
Ushers have the responsibility to assist people during the worship service.
Altar Guild is a special ministry that cares for everything that relates to the altar. They prepare the altar for all services and assist the clergy when necessary.
